The Joel Dorn produced original LP album of "The Source" was released from Atlantic Records in 1969. But unfortunately, Harman Lubinsky, Savoy's owner, claimed he still had Jimmy Scott under contract and had the album removed from the market.
The CD version of this album was first released in November, 2000 in Japan and then in USA from Label M which Joel Dorn started.
I'm sure that the two tunes in it, "Day By Day" and "Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child", are the best singings of Jimmy Scott's career. They are quite wonderful.
Well, Joel Dorn wanted to use Jimmy's photo on the original LP's cover, but a black model's photo was used by Atlantic. Lots of people thought that the songs were sung by the lady. Jimmy's photo was finally used on the cover photo of the Label M releasd CD.
